Teaching Guides Go Solar Now!

3 Steps to Solar

Going Solar has never been easier... Below are three steps that your city can take to go solar now.

Customized Planning and Finance

Every city's solar program requires custom design and planning for maximum production. After an assessment of solar access (areas free from shade) and a financial analysis of profitability, engineers design a set of solar power systems that are well-suited for each selected site, either on rooftops or on the ground. Sound financing and technical planning make all the difference for a profitable solar program. Larger solar installations often enter a Solar Power Services Agreement, or SPSA. An SPSA allows consumers to purchase solar power at predictable prices for 10-20 years, with no upfront costs.

Certification & Activation

Just like buildings, PV systems must meet strict electrical and building codes. So before going into service, a solar power system is inspected by trained professionals to certify the system is built properly. Upon activation, actual production is measured by a metering system that can verify the expected solar production and environmental benefits.

Monitoring & Maintenance

Solar power systems require monitoring and regular maintenance to make sure they're providing the full energy and environmental benefits they were designed to do. Certified solar technicians keep PV systems running year round through scheduled maintenance and dispatch repair crews. Advanced solar monitoring systems can validate how much solar power is produced in relation to the total energy a building uses.
